Summer Solstice Sunrise in Chano (Rola)

THE FASCINATING  CHANO MEGALITHS

Chano (Rola) is a cosy little megalithic complex yet its construction comprises such significant engineering. This is a very primitive tribal sasandiri burial. But the monument is more than just a dumb burial. The site is an extraordinary example of the primitive’s immense knowledge of observational astronomy and the understanding of the landscapes.
The Chano (Rola) megalithic complex  barely 6 kms East of Hazaribag town in Jharkhand state of East India is so unique with all its distinctive features that such a site is not easily found.
Each stone here is placed according to precise planning and in alignment to major hills that surround the site and to the major sunrises and sets of both the solstices and the equinoxes. The complex also houses a splendidly hewn phallus which confirms that Chano was and is still a unique blend of primitive astronomy and fertility.

On the Summer Solstice morning the sun was seen rising from the left gradient of the Silwar Hill in perfect alignment to the two stones in the complex marked as P2 and P3 .The sun set at an azimuth of 300 deg North of West between the two hills of Kanhari and that of Rola towards which the small   stone P3
points.

THE SUMMER SOLSTICE SUNRISE FROM THE LEFT GRADIENT OF THE SILWAR HILL IN PEERFECT ALIGNMENT WITH THE STONES MARKED P2 AND P3

As human construction rapidly grows around Chano the monument is under enormous threat of complete obliteration ,governmental agencies despite being completely aware of the site and the hazards its faces does nothing to provide protection to this exclusive monument.

Congratulations Subhashis Ji for such a stunning discovery. To have a primitive observatory next door created by primitive people is really stunning.
The megaliths should be preserved at any cost.
Congrats once again. Wish i was there for the occasion.

This is really superb, I never knew India was aware of astronomy so long ago.
