Chano is a tiny yet a major megalithic complex.
Situated about 7 kms East of the town of
Hazaribagh in the state of Jharkhand in eastern India this megalith is stunning
is many ways. The site apart from being a very primitive burial also reveals
the fact that the megalith may have been created to observe the transits of the
sun or may be also of the moon and certain constellations in the sky.

The megalithic complex is positioned exactly on the alignmental line of the Kesura and the Bawanwey Hills. The site is positioned aligned also to Kanhary, Rola and Silwar hills creating a stunning hex sectioning.

Pic 5. THIS IS THE SMALLER TRIANGULAR POINTER POINTING TOWARDS THE MID WINTER SUNRISE |
The tip of the smaller triangle has been inclined towards 120 deg South of East which is the azimuth of the Winter solstice at this latitude.
The larger inclined menhir along with the one of the triangles
is aligned towards the sunrise of the summer Solstice.
Chano also houses a phallus with glans.
Pic 6. THE PHALLUS WITH GLANS |
It is difficult to determine the date of the monument without
proper excavation but the surface typology does give a hint the megaliths is probably
very old.
