THE FASCINATING MEGALITHS OF PUNKRI BURWADIH |
Thiess is finally here. NTPC has awarded a 27 year contract to Thiess Minecs to develop and operate the Punkri Burwadih coal mine.(http://www.thiess.com.au/capabilities/projects/pakri-barwadih-coal-mine-operation).
This has sent shivers down into the Punkri Burwadih megalith lovers. Jharkhand government which hardly understands anything called heritage leave aside megaliths seems much happy with the destruction of the green valley .
Punkri Burwadih megaliths now stand threatened.
Numerous megaliths are being destroyed each day. Archaeological Survey of India, Jharkhand Archaeological dept , the State Government or the district administration hardly cares for megaliths being destroyed and now when Thiess has has joined hands with the government where does that leave the megaliths?
Death knells for the prehistoric monument have been sounded.
